A child’s bucket, selection of toys or different coloured objects

As your toddler becomes more independent, they’ll love the chance to go off exploring, especially if you ask them to bring back some special things!

Start by picking a theme; red things, toy animals or play fruit. Then pick 5 objects from that theme and place them around the room. The fun starts when you ask your toddler to find 5 red things and put them in the bucket.
Give them plenty of encouragement and talk excitedly about the goodies they bring back. This can help improve their memory and vocabulary, whilst revving them up for the next game!

Vary the themes and location to keep things interesting. And as they get older, ask them to find more complex things like 5 round things or things beginning with the letter B. It's a great way to remember words and learn new ones, either on their own or with friends!
