Cress seeds, soil, an empty egg shell

To help your toddler learn about the concept of growing, let them grow their very own plants.

Quick-growing things are best - planting cress in an eggshell is simple and easy to do. Save half an empty eggshell and fill it with a little soil, then let your toddler sprinkle some cress seeds on top. Place the eggshell in an egg cup or support it in some cotton wool or play dough on a plate. You could even draw a face on the eggshell; as the cress grows it will turn into hair!

Make sure you take a few minutes each day to look at the eggshell with your toddler, and talk about how much it has grown. This is an activity that will teach your toddler patience, and give them a better understanding of nature.
