Countryside or garden

Your toddler might already like spending time in the garden or local park, but how much attention do they pay to the wildlife that lives in it? There are all sorts of exciting creepy crawlies to discover.

Little creatures like woodlice, spiders, worms and bumblebees are easy to spot. You can help by lifting up any loose rocks – there’s usually something hiding underneath! Ask them to name what they can see and if they don’t know the name of it, teach them.

A bit of wildlife spotting can help your child’s vocabulary to grow, and it will also give them an understanding of the other living things they share their world with.
