Dummy or Thumb??

I have a 6 week old baby boy who is very content and has not needed a dummy so far! However, he has started to suck at his fist when he gets hungry and has started to show signs that he will be sucking his thumb before long!! I am concerned because although I said I would only use a dummy if he needed soothing, at least in time you can get rid of a dummy - I don't want him to become a thumb sucker and then never get out of the habit!! Should I therefore give him a dummy now and get him used to that? Maybe I am worrying far too early and should just relax and be thankful he does not struggle to get off to sleep and is not demanding!!
