Yusuf has a 2.5 tog grobag and he wears a short sleeved vest and a babygro with this. When he first goes to bed, he just has the grobag and then later when we go to bed and the evening has got colder, I put him into the feet first position and cover him with a double layer of cellular blanket - these are more breathable than the fleecy ones and so less chance of overheating. I used to follow a temperature chart religiously - especially in the heatwave we had in the summer, but now its winter, I just go by touch - feel side of neck/collar bone. Not the hands though as these are not an indicator of body heat for babies apparently!
I've also found the Mothercare grobags better than the brand name gro bags as Yusuf sweats less and the clothing chart with the brand name grobags is well confusing - the mothercare one's just say how many blankets/clothes it is eqivalent too, which I've found much easier.
Hope this helps!
