My advice to you is that your baby is far too young to be weaned. The world health organisiation advise that you wait until after 6 months. This is because until that age, babies can't digest food properly and may easily become allergic to it, causing food allergies, asthma and eczema.
Add to that constipation, stomach cramps and wind, and why would you do it? best to leave it until your baby is old enough to eat, and at 6 months old you don't really need to spoon ^anything^ in. Both my boys' first food was well cooked brocolli florets, as they are really easy to hold and they taste like ^real^ food, and so full of fresh vitamins and iron.
A lot of the ready prepared baby food on the market that is advertised as suitable really isn't. Egg custard, fish pie, strawberry cheesecake, all are names I've come across that are advertised as suitable from 4 months, but actually egg, fish and strawberries are all well known for causing allergic reactions!
