Although slightly different for you I would love the chance to leave within a few hours. I have had 2 c sections now and my 3rd is to be another elective (not my choice). I was kept in 8 days with my first then 5 days with the 2nd. 1st wasn't too bad I had my own room but being on a ward for 5 days with no sleep, everyone else's babies not even my own and an ex druggie with a baby withdrawing from methodone in the next bed was enough to drive me crazy. I was desperate to go home but I had problems with my wound. For this pregnancy I have to go to the hospital 40mins away as my local hospital is only a midwife led unit BUT I have been told that 24hrs after the op, if I can walk to the car, sit in the car and get to my local hospital they will then let me stay there for the subsequent 3 nights. After a c section you are 'required' to stay in for approx 4 days. They cannot force you to leave if you don't feel ready but some people feel they can relax more at home and bond with their babies easier, but it's down to whatever feels right for you.
