Hi! Check with your midwife if she feels that a water birth will be ok for you. There are two options, a water birth at home and in your hospital. If you're planning a home water birth, check if you are having a low risk pregnancy. Weigh up the pros and cons, such as being more comfortable against the immediate backup of medical help if neeeded. You can have a water birth at the hospital providing that the pools are free from use when you go into labour.
A water birth is supposed to be very relaxing and helps you deal with the pain, however you will be restricted as to what pain relief you can use. It is also said to be less stressful for the baby.
If you feel you really want a water birth then have one!!!!Dont let your midwife put you off - its your body and your choice, just be sure about where exactly you want to be. Hope this helps. Take care!!!!
