Maternity Leave - when?

When have you/do you plan to start maternity leave? I work with autistic children age 7-16 and they are physically demanding and often violent too. I am 25 weeks pregnant at the moment and I work with autistic children 3 days a week. At the moment as another member of staff is off sick I have been able to work 2 of my days in the office, where I am 'safer' but still one full day working with autistic children. After Christmas the member of staff in the office is back, so I would be expected to be in the autistic unit with the children from January. I am due on 27 Feb 2007. Would it be too early to start maternity leave on 4 January?
