Downs Syndrome Tests

Hi everyone,

I'm 29 and found out I am pregnant, my partner and I decided to start trying for a baby and I only came off the pill 6 weeks ago and apparently I'm approx 5 weeks pregnant!!! Well, thats the great news.

I saw my doctor last week and she discussed this initial Downs test (blood test) which will state if you have a high risk or not and from there you can decide if to have the amnio test.

I suppose I just want some reassurance that this is offered to everyone now. I had my first daughter just before I turned 18 and she is now 11 years old and this was never discussed to me back then and I was always led to believe that this was offered to over 35 year olds?

I would greatly appreciate any information on this...

Thanks, Eva
