Quality control

There’s a lot of expertise and testing involved to make sure just the right balance of ingredients go into our formulas. Any pack that doesn’t meet our strict standards won’t make it out - it’s as simple as that. 

Powdered baby and toddler milks are passed through a fine sieve to make sure the powder is evenly sized and perfectly clear. Oxygen in the packs is a no-no because it allows mould to grow, so we flush it out and secure each one with a heat-sealed lid. 

A precise detector is used to make sure all packs maintain the same weight and each of them is scanned with an X-ray machine to check everything is as it should be. 

Batch samples are taken before and after packing and tested against our strict product standards. We also carry out a load of tests on the packaging too. And all of this is done before a single pack of Cow & Gate leaves our factory!

Just because some of our products are called formula milks doesn’t mean it’s produced in a lab from lots of chemicals.

Our products begin as cow's milk from selected dairy farms in Europe.

We use our 100 years of experience to create a blend of ingredients adapted to your baby's specific stage that we then mix with the milk.

Our follow on milk and growing up milks contain key nutrients like calcium, vitamin D for normal bone development and iron to support normal cognitive development.

Our products are packed into specially designed formats. For our baby and toddler powder milks a scoop is added to make sure every feed you make has the recommended amount of powder for your little one, as part of a varied and balanced diet.

Final checks, including batch sampling before and after packing also takes place so you can rest assured that when you are buying Cow & Gate baby and toddler milks, we've made all efforts to bring you a safe and quality assured product.
